All good things must end... well not really, but you know what I mean

Here we are, three days later and the convention is already all over with. It's always bittersweet on the last day of the convention, but we had a really nice time.
I got to take a picture together with an old roommate from my single days. He is currently serving together with his wife as missionaries in Botswana. They recently got trained for substitute circuit work there, and this was their first time back in Sweden since they finished Gilead.
They were interviewed during the Friday program and told a very nice experience, which I am going to retell to the best of my ability, but I'll probably get some details off, so don't quote me on this... :)
Pretty soon after they arrived in Botswana they stepped into this small store and said their local greetings they had practiced, and of course they were recognized at once as foreigners (don't know how they picked up on that...) so they got to explain what had brought them to the country.
The next day when they went to that same store, the shop owner said there was a man that wanted to talk to them, and there was this young man who approached them. He told Björn that he needed his help to live a moral life and have a good relationship with God. He said that he had problems with his girlfriend (one of the 3 he had at the time) and he also said that he had lived an immoral life since he was 14 years old.
Björn offered him a Bible study, and the man accepted.
The study went on for about 3 years, with many ups and downs, but he said that the man called him up recently and told him that for the first time since he was 14 he had a moral life and felt at peace with God, and he was ready to start serving as an unbaptized publisher.
It is pretty amazing the things that our missionaries get to experience!
Most days they only made it to 2 or 3 doors, because usually you get a lengthy conversation every house you visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Biblical drama, and we were quite impressed with the professional wardrobe they had. Since anyone with access to the program already knows what Bible character it is about, I feel like I can post a shot without spoiling any surprises for anyone.
After the program they disassembled the entire inside of the convention hall before we could blink. It's truly awe inspiring to watch God's people at work.
We were invited to an evening meal with a family I spent a lot of time with growing up. We had a really nice time, and good conversation. A young couple there with us had recently returned back home from international construction work in Sri Lanka, and my childhood friend currently serves in a tiny congregation in the backwoods of Sweden (I know, some of you think all of Sweden is backwoods... I won't correct you this time)
They told a really sad experience they had with an immigrant family from Iran. They had been living in Sweden for three years and most of that time Jerry and Susanne had been studying with them. They had first been helped by a local church, but when they heard the truth they recognized it. The priest had come to their house to try to stop them from going to Jehovah's Witnesses, but they did not offer anything from the Bible to show why they were correct and we were wrong, all he would say was "What do they say about us to make you go to Jehovah's Witnesses instead?" Naturally that was the wrong approach since they had made their decision to come to the Kingdom Hall on the Bible, not on some slander. The father told the priest that he didn't want to be disrespectful, especially since they had been very helpful when they first came to the country, but he said that every time he went to their church they felt all empty afterwards, but after going to the Kingdom Hall they felt happy and closer to God. They truly learned something there. Then he told the priest "Just come with us to the Kingdom Hall one time, and you'll understand why I go there"
Unfortunately, one night the police came to their door and told them that they were going back to Iran. Their request for asylum had been denied and they had a few hours to get their things together, with the cops watching them the whole time.
Jerry said they were just crying together with the family for those few hours, saying a prayer with them through the window of a car as they were about to leave.
Naturally they were worried that they were going to have serious problems when they came back to Iran, but that didn't stop them from packing all their literature in their luggage, even though it means a death penalty for anyone to convert their religion there.
They were surprised that the government would just send them out of the country like that, especially considering they had a 4 year old girl to

o. We will be praying for their well-being, but Jerry said that it is really hard to get to hear from Witnesses living in Iran since the work is banned there.
Even though the family lived some distance away from my parents house, and it was 10pm we still decided to walk home since it was a beautiful evening.
That brings me to today's quiz question: what time is sundown in Härnösand this time of year? 5 points for the early bird...or late bird I guess.
As for the tally of points, here we go:

Lamontica has only 1 point, but at least she's nice...
denise p has 5 points since family not allowed in the competition, and Mark's attempt doesn't count.
Phil has 6 points thanks to his knowledge of Swedish history
Tom has 11 thanks to his linguistic skills and his knowledge of geography.
Steve gets 7 points for taking care of the Joan mission and 5 points for a completely ridiculous translation putting him in the lead with 12 points!
Here comes a bonus question: We spotted this on the ground. What is it? Best explanation is awarded 4 points

  1. The painting means this: Only people with baby coaches can park there. Your baby coach must face south when you go to this spot. The mommy and daddy must be together when they go to this spot. Only one baby coach per couple. If you go there and you don't have a baby coach OR the mommy and daddy are not together OR you have multiple baby coaches OR your baby coach doesn't face south, you will be shot and then hanged and your baby will be sold to the Gypsies.

    1. ... oh yes and the baby coach will be sold on eBay for a ridiculously exorbitant price -- like 20 million ruples or something like that.

    2. ... and I forgot one more thing. If you scratch your baby coach into someone's car, you will be assimilated by the Borg immediately.

  4. My guess is parking for a man with thick arms, a woman with one thin, longer arm & their baby is pacman. :-)
    Thanks for the experiences.

  5. Not sure why my comments are not showing - maybe I'm failing the non-human test.

I Agree with Tom on the time but you asked for the time of year:
You will lose 3minutes a day of sunlight for almost an hour lost by the time you leave.

And that is a place to park strollers as they're not allowed into the convention hall. ;)

Btw.. You look too happy in that 1st picture.
And those great experiences. Thanks for sharing.

    1. But if you leave your baby coach there, it will be gone when you come back. What is up with that??

    2. I don't understand the "not a computer" test. Are they afraid robots are reading and replying to human blogs? And if they are so smart, they can probably type out a few random letters? Actually some mornings it takes me a few attempts to prove I'm real. :-)

    3. The purpose of the "captcha" phrase is to make sure that a real human is at the keyboard. Computer software cannot read those phrases because it is really an image rather than text. Plus making it look all weird prevents machines from trying to replicate the text. It is hard enough for humans to figure it out much less a machine. So that way, only a human can respond. It would prevent a spammer from putting porn or other undesirable content on your blog.

    4. Also, they are talking about computer robots. Not real robots. But I suppose you knew that. It is annoying but I prefer it because it is a protection.

  6. Clearly this is an artistic rendering of a man and woman pointing and laughing at an ugly baby...
